Machine Head is a major antagonist in the Image Comics series Invincible and its animated adaptation of the same name.
He is a cybernetic crime boss who runs a criminal organization and the L.A. branch of The Order. He is also the archenemy of Titan.
In Capes, while Kid Thor and Bolt were tell each other about their origin story, Machine Head is thrown by Titan and hits their car. Titan grabs him by the throat and tries to kill Machine Head, Bolt and Kid Thor get in his way and defeats him. Titan and Machine Head are taken in to custody.
In Invincible, Machine Head and his bodyguard Isotope are seen in his office. When Titan arrives, Machine Head tells him that he's upset that Titan hasn't been earning like he used to and disturbed about him helping Invincible. Titan apologizes to Machine Head and leaves in anger.
Titan later teams up with Invincible to take down Machine Head. However, when they arrived in his office they are defeated by Machine Head's hired men - Battle Beast, Magnattack, Kursk, Furnace, Magmaniac, and Tether Tyrant. The Guardians of the Globe arrived and helped defeat Machine Head's enforcers and took them into custody. In later issues, he owns a store and is attacked by two of his former enforcers. Magmaniac uses his lava to blast at Machine Head but instead kills two customers. Machine Head orders Vault onto the duo. Vault discover that Magmaniac's consciousness exist in an electrical state and allowing him to melt and harden his body at will, smashing the latter's head and killing him and leaving Tether Tyrant in horror in the process.
In Guardians of the Globe, the leader of The Order, Set, seeks out to cause destruction across the world , he forms all the members of the organization to prepare for his father's reign of power. They began causing random attacks all over Earth, but organized an attack on Paris which was utterly destroyed and killed millions by them. The Guardians of the Globe arrived and started fighting The Order. After Brit ends the battle by unmasked Set and leaving the latter accepting his punishment but vows to succeed in his goal. Machine Head's current fate is unknown.
T.V. Show
Machine Head first appears in Season 1, Episode 5, "That Actually Hurt". Titan approaches Machine Head gives him a microchip, to which Machine Head remarks that he's impressed it wasn't even scratched. Machine Head then inserts the chip into a small slot on his left temple, causing his eyes and mouth to illuminate as he moans in euphoria. Titan demands to quit working for him since his debt is paid, however, Machine refuses to let him go and states he's too useful to him. Machine attempts to temp Titan with the offer of "Bonus time", but Titan refuses the offer. Machine Head taunts Titan by calling him his enforcer and that he has no chance at normal life. While Titan initial ignores Machine Head, he stops once Machine Head subtly threatens him. Titan turns around and hardens his skin, to which Machine only further incites Titan by threatening his family and declaring ownership over Titan. Enraged, Titan smashes Machine Head's desk, prompting the latter to cheer in awe at Titan's strength. He then tells Titan he has to now pay for his desk, which is made from imported Italian maple.
Later in his office, Machine Head calculated quantum probabilities while he waited for Invincible and Titan to knock down his Italian maple doors. When they interrupted him, he greeted them with little surprise and complimented their powers. When asked, Machine Head revealed the microchip Titan gave him allows him to calculate quantum probabilities. Armed with that, Machine Head summoned Isotope, who teleported a group of supervillains to defend them from the duo. Machine Head observed the fight, all the while, insulting the heroes and cheering on his supervillain guards. The fight was then interrupted with the arrival of the new Guardians of the Globe. Enraged, Machine Head ordered the villains to murder heroes. The villains were initially successful and incapacitated three heroes. The remaining Guardians then worked together to take down each villain (except Battle Beast, who teleported away). Surprised at the outcome, Machine Head demanded Isotope to teleport him away, however Isotope was no where to be found. Before he could search for him, Machine Head was knocked unconscious by Rex Splode.
Machine Head reappears one final time in the episode, where he is being arrested by government soldiers. Cecil halts the escort and deactivates Machine Head. Cecil opens his head and confiscates the microchip Titan stole for him.
Following his defeat, Machine Head was sent to Payton Penitentiary for his crimes, with his wealth and position being seized by Titan. Machine Head would remain imprisoned for months while he fell ill due to a lack of adequate care provided by the prison.
In Season 3, Episode 5, "This Was Supposed To Be Easy", Titan visits Machine Head in prison to get his advice on how to deal with Mister Liu. Machine Head advised him about how dangerous Mister Liu was and that Titan should either follow Liu's orders or him and his family would face death if not. Titan instead, secretly proposes a third option to kill Liu.
Liu eventually grows impatient and attacks the prison in his dragon form to free Multi-Paul, meanwhile Isotope frees Machine Head and teleports him to Liu's human body. Machine Head confronts Liu's bodyguard as Isotope teleports the bodyguard into mid-air. Machine Head then shot Liu's body while his dragon form disintegrated.
Having killed Liu, Machine Head seized the title of leader of The Order himself without opposition from any other members. Titan appeared and stated in exchange for the position, he wanted The Order to leave him and his city alone. Machine Head agreed and threatened Titan to never double cross him again.
